Container being lifted at a freight terminal

Project and Specialist Cargo

Planning and coordination for oversized, complex, high-value and time-critical cargo, managed by people who take ownership of the detail.

Complex cargo needs a plan, not just a quote

Project and specialist shipments rarely fit a standard service. The cargo may be too large or heavy for a normal container, too valuable to risk, or needed on site by a fixed date. Getting it there depends on planning, documentation and coordination between many parties.

We work through the detail before the cargo moves: the route, the equipment, the permits and the timing. Then we stay with the shipment until it is delivered, and tell you straight away if anything changes.

Our project and specialist cargo services

Gantry cranes working a vessel at a port

Oversized and heavy cargo

Machinery, equipment and structures that do not fit a standard container, moved using flat racks, open tops, break bulk or specialist road transport, as the cargo requires.

Cargo being loaded onto a freight aircraft

Time-critical and high-value shipments

Cargo where delay or damage would be costly, such as parts for a production line or equipment for a project deadline. Planned with extra attention to routing, handling and security, and monitored closely throughout.

Project cargo or standard freight?

Not every large or urgent shipment needs project handling. As a general guide:

What we handle

  • Route and feasibility planning
  • Choosing the right equipment and transport mode
  • Permits and special documentation
  • Coordination with suppliers, carriers, ports and site teams
  • Customs clearance, through our Customs Clearance service
  • Updates from planning to delivery

How it works

  1. Tell us about the cargo.

Dimensions, weights, lifting points if known, origin, destination and the date it is needed on site.

  2. We plan the move.

Route, mode, equipment, permits and timing, with the risks and options explained plainly.

  3. We agree the plan with you.

Cost, schedule and responsibilities, so everyone knows what happens and when.

  4. We coordinate the move.

Carriers, ports, hauliers and site teams, with updates at each stage. If something changes, we tell you and set out the alternatives.

  5. We complete the delivery.

To site, with Customs clearance and final transport coordinated by the same team.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as project cargo?

Shipments that are oversized, heavy, high-value, time-critical or technically demanding, and that need specific planning rather than a standard booking. If in doubt, send us the details.

What information do you need to plan a project shipment?

The dimensions and weight of each piece, lifting points and drawings if available, the origin and destination addresses, site access details, the required delivery date and the agreed Incoterms.

How far in advance should I contact you?

As early as possible. Route planning, permits and equipment can take time to arrange, and early involvement gives you more options on cost and timing.

Can you handle Customs clearance?

Yes. Our Customs Clearance service coordinates the formalities and documentation so your cargo moves compliantly across borders.

What happens if the plan changes?

We tell you as soon as we know, explain the options and agree the next step with you.
